Time-lining BFT History

The task was to visually collate and communicate all the major events and turning blocks in the lifetime of BFT, dug up by the Past Perfect Heritage Team dating back to the 1920’s.

Patterned Tiles

An Architectural movement heavily influenced by Gothic buildings since the Middle Ages, made popular in the 19th Century by Herbert Minton. These profusely decorative patterns on tiles were the stepping stone for the the revolutionary take on floors and their relation with aesthetics.

Style Moderne

The 1930s ushered in the era of Art Deco, also called Style Moderne, marking a shift from carpet tiles to plain cement tiles and marble mosaic (Terazzo) tiles laid in geometric patterns. BFT strengthened its aim of laying unique, custom designed floors.

Anecdote

Dedicated to Herr Albert Miller the German Artist / Designer who brought the specialised technique of coloured marbles and flooring to India along with Almitra Patel who wrote a poem in awe of the beauty of BFT’s brightly patterned tiles, an audio recording of which was displayed at the exhibit.

Ideal Home Exhibit

An interactive set up of stamp size, black and white, printed images, dated back to the 1950’s, of various houses. This was to be viewed by a magnifying glass. Some elements, like the bar from the images, was re-created by the Sahas & RJ Model team.
